Miquiline Herefords
Our farms are situated in the Koffiefontein district (100 km from Kimberley, 160 km from Bloemfontein) — typical Karoo ground with the Riet River and good irrigation from Kalkfontein dam supporting 200 ha of crops. The Hereford stud began in 1953 with cattle from Shaun Moorcroft and Billy Kingwill, later strengthened with English imports under Dirk Louw Snr. Notable bloodlines and bulls include Vern Oran, Studdolph Valour, Wenlock Julius, Yarram Pompei, Haven Wizzard, Neon and Rambo, Westwood Veron, and recent purchases such as Syferpan Stanmore 47R and Syferpan Sensation. Our Herefords number about 45 top-quality cattle and continue to feature champion bloodlines.
Miquiline Angus Stud
We started the black Angus in 2010, buying foundation females from Brian Angus. In 2012 we selected the best from 30, leaving 14 milky, medium-framed cows. We have invested in quality bulls including Aucdene 35M, Epworth Ladysman and an imported embryo line from A Final Answer (USA). In 2014 a red stud was started with females from Brian Angus, Bon Haven, Waterval Angus, Bodeel and Bird Island Red. Our bulls will shape the breeding program for the coming decade as we aim to build one of the top herds.
